After School Club

 
The After School Care Club is Ofsted registered and is run by qualified and experienced play work staff.
 
The After School Care Club is open from 2.30pm to 6.00pm, term times only.
During the School Holidays, The club is open from 8.30 am to 5.30am Monday to Friday
 
There are 32 places for children aged 4 - 13 who are collected from Local Schools, and are brought into a safe caring environment, where they are cared for, and can engage in a variety of planned and free play activities until they are collected by their parents/carers.
 
 
Aims and Objectives
  • We aim to support language and communication skills in an informal environment.
  • Provide high quality play and creative experiences that are appropriate to the age and development of each child.
  • Provide an excellent out of term service for parents who need to continue to work.
  • Provide a stimulating and caring environment where the children's skills can be developed in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and Playwork Practices.

 

 Meals

  • Children who are in attendant of the After School Care Club are provided with afternoon snack.
  • A variety of snacks are provided each day.
  • Fresh fruits, water and juice are available at every session.
  • From time to time children will prepare their own snacks as part of their learning experience.

 

 Activities and Themes

  • Some life skills activities are planned and evaluated by the staff team.
  • The children are encouraged to actively participate in the planning and implementation of activities.
  • Planned activities are based around the children's interest and in line with the EYFS Statutory requirements.
  • Children have access to a range of activities such as arts and crafts, gardening, construction play, role play, messy play, sensory play, cooking, music and celebrations, risky play and elemental play. 
  • The children are also taken to the local park and are taken for local walks as part of their physical development. 
  • In addition to the activities available, children are supported with their homework.

 Positive Behaviour Policy

  • The Light of The World After School Care promotes positive behaviour.
  • The environment in the club encourages polite and courteous behaviour, respecting indivduals levels of understanding and maturity.

 

 Child Protection/Safeguarding

  • The health and safety of all our children is of paramount.  Therefore, safety checks are carried out in the room, and with all equipments and toys that the children would be exposed to.
  • The Light of The World has Safeguarding and Child Protection policies and procedures in place and all staff and volunteers are made aware of this.

 

Key Person

  • Each child is allocated a keyperson who will support them, and be the parents/carers point of contact.

 

This project has benefited countless parents and carers, who are able to continue to work or train, with the peace of mind that their children are being professionally cared for.
